February 1956, fifth round - Manchester City 0-0 Liverpool
The first ever FA Cup tie between the two sides ended in a goalless draw at Maine Road.
Don Welsh's Reds featured the legendary Billy Liddell, Ronnie Moranand Alan A'Court.
Liddell found the net in the first half, but the goal was chalked off due to a reportedly questionable offside call, forcing a replay at Anfield.
February 1956, fifth-round replay - Liverpool 1-2 Manchester City
Four days later, Liverpool were hopeful they could capitalise on their home advantage.
Alan Arnellscored the Reds' opener seven minutes into the second half and things were on track.
The visitors equalised through Jack Dyson, however, and then a last-minute winner from Joe Hayes secured their spot in the quarter-finals.
February 1973, fourth round - Liverpool 0-0 Manchester City
Bill Shankly's side needed a replay against Burnley at Anfield to progress in the previous round.
In similar fashion to 1956, the two teams couldn't be separated and the game ended 0-0, with Liverpool needing to go to Maine Road and get a result if they were to advance.
February 1973, fourth-round replay - Manchester City 2-0 Liverpool
Colin Bell pounced on the rebound of an excellent Ray Clemencesave to give City a lead in the 13th minute.
Six minutes into the second half, a scramble in the six-yard box saw the ball fall to Tommy Booth, who doubled the lead and gave the Reds a mountain to climb.
Liverpool were unable to do so and their wait for a first FA Cup victory at Maine Road continued.
